Jeff Ruff earned the title of Wizard! Of Sexuality Studies along a hat fit for a wizard at the sexuality studies department game show Thursday night in Smith Hall 154.

The game show worked as an interdisciplinary panel with a focus on sexuality. Each of the contestants brought elements of their respective fields into the discussion then audience members decided whose answer was the best.

Votes were cast by clickers given to audience members upon arriving. The questions came both from audience members and Twitter.

Questions ranged from “Should I ask out someone I have class with and how?” to “What is the most interesting sex fact you know?”

Ruff is an associate professor in the religious studies department. He teaches Hindu mysticism and a seminar entitled Dreams, Shamans and Reality.

The faculty members competing with Ruff were Hilary Brewster of the English department, Greta Rensenbrink of the history department, and Shawn Schulenberg of the political science department.

Before adding in donation votes, Brewster was ahead in points, with Ruff coming in second, Rensenbrink third and Schulenberg fourth.

However, audience members donated $134 to Ruff’s votes and, with each dollar counting as one point, he was pushed into first place in the overall competition.

Hosting the event was Eric Del Chrol, head of the classics department. Acting as scorekeeper was Walter Squire, assistant professor of English.

The event raised $163 for their beneficiary, CONTACT Rape Crisis Center, a Huntington advocacy organization that offers services for victims of sexual assault and stalking.
