A sub shop in Huntington has managed to stay open for almost 22 years.
Daniello's is located on Fourth Avenue and offers pizzas, subs, pastas and salads.
"The most popular item is probably the steak sub with our special red sauce, or the Big Mouth," said James Paul, owner of Daniello's.
"People really seem to like our sauces and the special way we do things here," Paul said.
Paul is a Huntington native and Marshall University graduate, who received his bachelor's degrees in sociology and marketing.
"My family is from here," Paul said. "We've been here for years. We love it here."
The restaurant has had three owners since it opened, Paul said.
"We all have known each other for a very long time now and they each kind of passed it down to someone who they trusted," Paul said.
Paul said there are many reasons his business has been successful throughout its 22 years.
"I take pride in what I do,"Paul said. "I get the best products I can buy. I know no one can touch my prices. Its very rare to find a business that has been around in Huntington as long as we have. I think that says a lot about our product, services and our business as a whole."
Daniello's recently extended its weekend hours to attract more college students, Paul said.
"We are open late now on Saturday, and we recently renovated because the college crowd is so important to us and our business," Paul said.
Daniello's is a small treasure hidden in Huntington, said DeNathian Robinson, senior criminal justice major from Hampton, Va.
"The first time I ate there, I couldn't believe the prices for the huge sandwich I got, and trust me, it was amazing," Robinson said. "The café is okay, but anytime you can get off campus and eat a great meal at a great price is better, especially since the selection here isn't what it is in Virginia."
