Today is the final edition of the Parthenon for the 2004-05 academic year. As the year draws to a close, there were moments we would like to look back on.

The university has experienced many changes during the past seven months. One of the most unexpected changes was the resignation of former President Dan Angel. Angel resigned after five years at the helm of the university and will return after a sabbatical to teach at Marshall. In the wake of his resignation other issues arose. Seth Murphy and his new bride, Megan, moved into the President's mansion, making news nationwide.

A Marshall graduate and prominent Huntington lawyer, Mike Farrell, took over for Angel and has led the university as one of the many interims the school has seen this year. From interim president to interim football coach, interim seemed to be a title rampant on campus. Beloved Thundering Herd football coach, Bobby Pruett, retired after nine seasons on Marshall's sidelines. The retirement sent a shockwave through the Huntington-area as the coach said it was "just time" to move on.

Taking his place, Mark Snyder returned home to coach his alma mater. Snyder, an All-American in 1987 as a Marshall safety, left The Ohio State University Buckeyes to lead Marshall into a new conference, C-USA.

A university fixture for more than a decade, Calamity Cafe, closed its doors, much to the dismay of its loyal following. The restaurant cited the smoking ban as hurting business and a reason to close. Its supposed predecessor, Hillbilly Hotdogs, was unable to go in at that location because of more than $67 million owed in back taxes.

Many other moments happened in the 2004-05 year including Marshall causing a stir, using eminent domain to acquire Glaser Furniture, a local business that served the Huntington community for almost 60 years. The women's basketball team were co-champs in the MAC East Division, the only MAC Championship so far this year. The phenomenon known as theFacebook has swept the campus, causing hundreds of hours to be wasted "poking" people.

At the end of it all, 2004-05 had countless memories, good and bad. We at the Parthenon hope many will look back with fondness and remember the events of the year.
