Illustrations of dragons and mermaids and images of Japan are on display in the Birke Art Gallery as part of a senior art show.
The show, which is part of a senior Capstone course, features a collection of work four students have created throughout their college career.
Carla McDade, a graphic design major from Greenbrier County, is one of the four students whose work is on display. She said her work is inspired by fantasy.
"It takes every aspect of art and puts it into an imaginative aspect to open the mind of my viewers," McDade said.
She said she is excited about having her work on display because it shows the diversity of her skills.
Beth Hartman, a graphic design major from Charleston, also said she enjoys having her artwork on display.
Her work consists of 15 pieces including stationary and corporate identity designs.
"It's an accomplishment," Hartman said. "You work so hard and you finally get to show your work to the people who want to see it and the people who like it. I just like to share it with other people."
The show also highlights the work of Mary Haynes, a graphic design major from Beckley. Her display features an oriental theme including images of Japan.
Haynes said the show is a way for students to see how much they have developed over the years.
"It's a completion of everything we've been learning here at Marshall, and it shows us what we've learned from the teachers," she said.
Brian Endicott, a graphic design major from Inez, Ky., is also presenting his work. His work includes designs for men's underwear packaging and a stationary package.
Endicott said the show is just one step closer for him to graduation.
"It's a small step in trying to achieve what I will be doing for the rest of my life," he said.
The show, which is the first in a series of five, will be on display until tomorrow.
The Birke Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
