The Marshall Community and Technical College will host the fifth annual West Virginia Health Occupations Students of America leadership conference this weekend.
The national student organization's mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry, and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people, according to its Web site.
Janet Smith, associate professor in the Allied Health Division, said between 500 and 600 students from high schools and post secondary centers throughout the state plan to attend.
The MCTC will award four students a three credit hour tuition waiver to be used this summer or next fall, Chappell said.
"These students are some of the most highly motivated and dedicated allied health students in our area, we would love to have them come here," Chappell said.
Smith said Marshall is a great place to have the conference because of the large campus and welcoming atmosphere.
The health occupations career fair is available to all Marshall University and MCTC students from noon to 2 p.m. Friday in the Alumni Lounge of the Memorial Student Center, Smith said.
