The Office of Financial Aid is still taking fall and spring semester applications for the Higher Education Adult Part-time Student program.
An applicant must be a West Virginia resident, or have resided in-state for at least 12 months.
Students applying must have a minimum 2.0 gpa, be a part-time student, and still be an undergraduate.
A Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be on file. This is a need-based program and applicants may claim dependent or independent status.
"Applications are taken and processed until the money runs out, so there is no set deadline," Sandy Winters, financial aid counselor, said.
Currently 138 Marshall student are receiving money from the program.
HEAPS will pay tuition and students fees for the semester. This is a grant program.
HEAPS also is available to Community and Technical College students.
Students receiving HEAPS must meet and maintain satisfactory progress standards.
Approximately 5,000 students are eligible for the HEAPS program statewide each year. The legislature has already appropriated $5,000,000 to the program for fiscal year 2006.
An application for HEAPS may be picked up in The Office of Financial Aid or downloaded through www.marshall.edu/sfa/.
